New Year new hair is what my brave friend/client was all about. She has overcome major stuff the last year and decided 2015 was about new ways of looking at things including herself. She wanted the freedom of not blow drying her thick, wavy hair out. Doing tons of foil work to give her natural highlights. She wanted freedom of doing Brazilian Blowouts, basically she wanted to wake up and do things differently and came in with one picture of the cut she wanted. No confusion, very decisive. I cannot tell you how much easier things go when a client has a look they really want down to the exact color and cut. She happens to have great taste and style so she comes prepared and aware of what she can and cannot pull off in style.
So when a blond decides to go red and can pull it off I jump on that so fast! I love a change like this. First I had to go in and fill her hair with some missing pigments using a keratin based color gloss. Then I went into her base color and used organic hair color by all nutrient to give her this rich, sunny, copper based color. Then sealed her ends with blended demi-permanent hair color. So I basically built the color into her hair so the red will last. When one goes red they have to remember its the toughest color to get rid of and the toughest color to keep. So when you turn a previously highlighted or lightened blonde into a red…the color has to be built back in or it will wash out within a week. This is why you need to let a pro do your color and not get a box of something at rite-aid. A professional colorist will have to know these steps to make it last. Hell even natural red heads have a hard time not fading out. So once you go red its a commitment.
Paula was Red’dy haa get it?! lol Anyway then buzzed, blended, texturized her hair to give her this cute, edgy, pixie type look. Now she can wash and go, or lightly finger dry this, or flat iron it out. All I simply did to style this was use moroccan oil smooth lotion. Then a light pomade to give it separation. She can do this in 5 minutes now. So to all you men and women out there as Nike says….”Just do it!”
