Blonde hair for Asian Skin is beautiful when done correct and the right color tones for the client. There are tons of levels and tones of the BLONDE hair color. Some think going blonde just means MARILYN MONROE blonde. That is so limiting and just not true. You can make a dark blonde to lighter blonde depending on the persons skin tones.
My client came to me with broken hair due to another salon trying too hard to make her too blonde. They used harsh bleaches and left her hair brassy. The key to any type of Asian or darker hair is to lift it without making it brassy. My client sat in my chair and showed me a blonde that she felt matched her.
I started by “busting her base” meaning I formulated a ashen base color by Schwarzkopf who has some of the best Ash colors on the market. Ash is my best friend when dealing with darker hair colors. I lifter her root level then went in with massive foil work. Tons of foils through her hair with highlights and lowlights but only lifter her to the level that would match her skin. . Never go too platinum on the highlight on Asian hair as you will break it. Then infused a rich light beige color gloss with Redken Shades Eq color gloss and Olaplex. Then I gave her hair a “dusting” which is a slight trim on the ends to ensure the split ends where gone.
She now had the color she wanted and less damage. I sent her home with Olaplex take home treatment to insure her hair gets in better shape and stays that way. Now that she is in my hands her hair is getting healthier and longer. Her upkeep is every 6 weeks for just a touch up base color and every 3 months we infuse highlights when needed. Low upkeep. She has great hair and now its in great shape!
