First time hair color is always a defining moment for a person. You are changing the way you see yourself. When a person is ready for change it can be a “life changing moment” for some. Let’s face it your hair is the stage for your face. If you get the right color it can change how your skin and eyes look. If done right it can be an amazing experience. If it’s done by a non-professional you can end up with the wrong tone and be scared to color it again.
I had this young actress referred to me by a style consultant. She wanted her client to have a more “commercial look” and wanted her to have very subtle highlights to give her dimension and a new shaped haircut that was versatile for auditions .
I feel that you should have versatile hair options in your day to day life and simplicity in color is sometimes all someone needs for that extra boost. This new client was excited and nervous as she is young and new to LA. My suggestion was to just do a partial highlight with subtle caramel highlights as her natural color was the perfect base to highlight on.
I used a color from a great color line Schwarzkopf Professional. I decided to use one color and place the foils to give her dimension, that would lift her to a blended caramel tone. Notice how it just added to her look. It lifted her up into a more versatile look that she can still be the girl next door, to an executive. The caramel tones break up her color and gave her shine and dimension.
Giving her a very slight polished A-line long bob with a slight side bang. Frames her face and brings out her eyes. I used Moroccan oil thickening lotion to blow out here hair. That was it! She now feels ready to compete and more up to date. This subtle change is all she needed. Sometimes when you color remember…simplicity is sometimes best!
